Sporting activities are a popular way of keeping fit, and active. Unfortunately, injuries to the knee are quite common. The ligaments of knee joints including the anterior cruciate ligament and the collateral ligaments are commonly injured. PCL and patellar tendons are less commonly affected. Cushion cartilage and articular cartilage damage is another common sport injury.
The structure which are mainly injured during sport activities includes Ligaments, tendons, Cushion cartilage (meniscus), and covering cartilage (articular cartilage).
Medial and lateral collateral ligaments around the ankle are main stabilising factors for ankle joint. These ligaments along with the articular cartilage are commonly injured during sports activities.
Other than these injuries, patellar tendinitis (anterior knee pain), Tendo-Achilles tendinitis (heel pain), and trochanteric tendinitis are also related to sport activities.
