Surgical Expertise

Mr. Maqsood was “”Best Graduate”” from the University of Peshawar in 1985. He was awarded four gold medals for his best performance in his professional examinations. He acquired his basic surgical training in Teaching Hospital Abbottabad and RGH Rawalpindi. Mr M Maqsood then moved to UK, training and working in Birmingham and acquired FRCS (RCPSG) in 1992.

He gained his specialist training in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery based at St. James’s teaching Hospital Leeds, Yorkshire training programme. During this training he acquired very prestigious FRCS Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery in 1999. Mr. Maqsood travelled to Germany and obtained AO fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma from Regensburg University in 2001.

Aside from general orthopaedics, Mr. Maqsood’s particular interest encompasses specialist knee, shoulder and hip surgery. He is trained to perform arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, minimal invasive and per-cutaneous surgery. He specialises in knee, foot, ankle and shoulder ligaments reconstruction and cartilage repair with advanced techniques like ACI (autologous chondrocyte implantation) MACI (membrane assisted chondrocyte implantation)

Mr. Maqsood took his post as Consultant Trauma & Orthopaedic surgeon at Lincoln County Hospital in 2002. He is AO faculty member for teaching surgical skill, principle courses for surgeons and operating room personnel.

He is keen researcher and had presented many research papers inside UK and outside countries like Orlando, USA in 2001, Helsinki, Finland 2003, Florence, Italy in 2007 presented papers and poster in Nice, France in 2008 and presented papers in SICOT Conference, Hong Kong 2008.

At present, he is chief investigator of an important research project, “The effects of smoking on fracture healing” based at Lincoln County Hospital in collaboration with the University Of Lincoln.

Mr. Maqsood is very keen teacher and teaches principle course of fracture management for surgeons and operating room personnel with AO Faculty International. He is the lead for ACE MDD-Module for medical students from the University Of Nottingham. He is trainer for specialist registrars, senior house officers and house officers in trauma & orthopaedic surgery.
