Sport activities are source of keeping yourself fit, active and happy. In some unfortunate circumstances one can injure himself during the episode of the sport activities. Most commonly injuries occur around the Knee, Shoulder, Elbow, and Ankle joints. Sometimes the injuries are so severe that warrant surgery and at occasions it may need course of exercises and pain control to recover.
The structure which are mainly injured during sport activities includes Ligaments, tendons, Cushion cartilage(meniscus), covering cartilage(Articular cartilage).
Ligaments of knee joints: Anterior cruciate ligament called ACL( Foot baller Ligament) and collateral ligaments are commonly injured . PCL and patellar tendons are less commonly affected. Cushion cartilage and articular cartilage damage is another common sport injury.
Ligaments of the shoulder: Bankart’s lesion, rotator cuff tear, impingement syndrome, ACJ dislocation are common in juries around the shoulder joint.
Ligaments around elbow: Medial and lateral collateral ligaments injuries along with tennis elbow and golfers elbow are other sport injuries around the elbow joint.
Ligaments around the Ankle: Medial and lateral collateral ligaments around the ankle are main stabilising factors for ankle joint. These ligaments along with the articular cartilage are commonly injured during sports activities.
Other than these injuries, patellar tendinitis (anterior knee pain), Tendo-Achilles tendinitis (heel pain), planter fasciitis, De-Quervian disease (wrist pain) and trochenteric tendinitis are also related to sport activities.
